The popular Canadian fast-food chain is coming to Ireland.

Limerick is set to be Ireland's first destination for a Tim Hortons branch.

According to the Limerick Post, planning permission has been secured from Limerick City and County Council.

It'll be built on an existing site at the Limerick One Shopping Park on Childers Road.

Tim Hortons operates cafes across the UK including destinations in Northern Ireland.

The Canadian company is known for its coffee and doughnuts in particular.

It derives from the parent company Wendy's, which is a popular fast-food chain in North America.

Tim Hortons' only other European home aside from the UK is in Spain.

There are chains in the likes of the UAE, the Philippines, Qatar, Mexico and China.

It's held a small outlet at Dublin Zoo for the past few years.
