UPDATED: Human Remains Found In Wicklow

Gardaí are working to establish the identity of a human torso discovered in the Wicklow mountains.

It it unknown how long the remains were there for or even the gender of the victim.

Superintendent Pat Ward of Bray Garda Station, said the victim did meet a violent end and that an investigation, similar to a murder investigation has been launched.

The scene at Military Road in Enniskerry has been preserved for a Garda forensic examination.

Gardaí have closed nearby roads

The remains were discovered by a group of people yesterday evening after they had a picnic nearby. 

Investigating Gardaí have appealed for any person who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or who may have information in relation to this investigation to contact Bray Garda Station on 01-666 5300, the Garda Confidential Line  1800-666-111 or any Garda Station.
