France's most iconic landmark, the Eiffel Tower, is apparently riddled with rust and needs repairs -
but won't be repainted until just before the 2024 Olympic Games.
French magazine, Marianne, says 30 percent of the structure in Paris was supposed to have been stripped and given two fresh coats.
But it claims only five percent will be treated, partly due to pandemic-related delays.

The Eiffel Tower was built from 1887 to 1889 by French engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company specialized in building metal frameworks and structures.
Facts
The structure was originally pitched to the city of Barcelona, Spain.
They rejected it, worried it would be an unwieldy eyesore.
