A man and a woman have been arrested after the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin was defaced.

The pair intentionally gratified the building as part of a climate change protest.

While one person live streamed the event on Facebook, another threw buckets of pink paint on the walls.

The woman, who is in her late teens, is also seen spray painting "No More Empty Promises" over the doors.

The action was taken as part of a campaign by Extinction Rebellion.

Gardaí say they have arrested a man in his 20s and a woman in her late teens for an act of criminal damage on St. Stephens Green.

They are being detained at Kevin Street Garda station.
