Songbird
The trailer for Michael Bay's upcoming pandemic thriller Songbird came out yesterday.
It's been facing widespread criticism online, with many calling it, 'tone deaf,' and, 'disrespectful,' amid the current pandemic.
Michael Bay is a producer on the movie, which is directed by Adam Mason.
The movie follows the world in its fourth year of lockdown after the COVID-23 virus has mutated.
Infected Americans are ripped from their homes and forced into quarantine camps known as Q-Zones.
From there, there is no escape.
A fearless courier named Nico, played by Riverdale's KJ Apa, finds himself immune to the virus.
Nico falls in love with a woman named Sara, played by Sofia Carson.
However, lockdown prohibits them from physical contact.
Everything falls apart when Sara becomes infected.
Nico races desperately across the barren streets of L.A. in search of the only thing that can save her from imprisonment... or worse.
The trailer opens with Nico and Sara video chatting each other.
She tells him, "I could kiss you right now." He replies, "Some day."
A voice is heard announcing, "Curfew is now in affect. All unauthorised citizens must stay indoors."
A news reporter is heard saying, "Tensions rise as we enter the 213th day of lockdown."
Bradley Whitford and Demi Moore also star in the movie as a wealthy couple who may hold the key to Nico’s mission.
Craig Robinson, Alexandra Daddario, Paul Walter Hauser and loads more also star in Songbird.

Those behind the movie have been facing serious criticism online following the trailer release.
Many people have called it, 'tone deaf,' and, 'disrespectful,' to those who have lost loved ones amid the pandemic.
One person wrote, 'Making a “dystopian horror movie” about a horror that is real and happening RIGHT NOW is so tone deaf.'

I can't judge the movie bc I haven't seen it, but the trailer plays on people's fears about the pandemic and being forced into obeying martial law. we are already seeing those fears play out in anti maskers at the expense of the most vulnerable. this is in such poor taste
