Ricky Gervais Will Host The 2020 Golden Globes For The Fifth Time

The Golden Globe Awards

Ricky Gervais has been announced as the host of the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards next year.

It'll mark the fifth time the comedian steps out on stage for hosting duties.

In a statement he says, 'Once again, they’ve made me an offer I can’t refuse.'

Ricky hosted three years in a row from 2010 to 2012.

He took a break for a few years after that and returned for the 2016 ceremony.

Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, and Tina Fey and more have hosted in the past.

In a statement obtained by TV Line, the comedian says, 'Once again, they’ve made me an offer I can’t refuse.'

'But this is the very last time I’m doing this, which could make for a fun evening.'

Chairman of NBC Entertainment Paul Telegdy also made a statement:

'There is always a palpable electricity in the room when Ricky takes the Globes stage.'

Paul goes on, 'His return as master of ceremonies at the Golden Globes is much anticipated.'

'It is sure to make for an unexpected evening. We can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve.'

Meanwhile, CEO of Dick Clark Productions Mike Mahan's statement reads:

'In a world where many award shows are opting to go the no-host route, the Golden Globes are going all in!'

'It’s going to be a great night.'
