Summer Loving is believed to follow the story behind how Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson first met.

The Wrap revealed the news yesterday and fans are freaking out.

The feature is inspired by the musical number Summer Nights where Danny and Sandy sing of their Summer fling.

This makes sense considering the movie is going to follow the story of how they first met.

Who's creating it?

It will reportedly be developed by Paramount Players film division, with Temple Hill and Erik Feig’s Picturestart producing.

John August will direct the feature. He's one of the guys behind the upcoming Disney live action remake of Aladdin.

He also collaborated with Tim Burton on Big Fish and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The original movie came out in 1978

Grease came out in 1978 and little did they know, it would became a cult classic.

It was the biggest box office hit the year it came out and is still one of the highest grossing musicals of all time.

The original film starred the iconic John Travolta as Danny and Olivia Newton-John as Sandy.

The stars of the movie are still very close friends.

They even reenacted the hit song You're The One That I Want live onstage years later.

It's gonna be hard for Paramount to fill their shoes.

The question everyone's asking now however, is who will they cast in the lead roles for the prequel?

Well, we're not sure just yet but we're hoping they reveal a little bit more soon.
