Love Island say they are working on a new launch date.

The All-star series, which was due to begin on Monday night, has been delayed due to wild fires near the villa in South Africa.

In a statement posted on their social media last night, Love Island assured people that the islanders are safe and they are working on bringing an 'iconic series.'

The statement read: "Just a reminder that the Love Island launch show has been delayed due to Wild Fires near the villa in South Africa.

"Everyone is safe though and we're working on bringing you an iconic series, so keep an eye on our socials and we'll let you know the new launch date as soon as we can."

A previous ITV statement on Saturday read: “Further to a production evacuation owing to ongoing wildfires in the area, our assessment of the location site has concluded that filming will need to be postponed.”

They added: “Health and safety is our greatest priority and will always come first, and therefore the transmission of Love Island: All Stars will be delayed until a date to be confirmed.”

Meanwhile, host Maya Jama has shared an insight into how she has been spending her free time waiting for production to begin.

Chatting on her Instagram stories while walking through the streets of South Africa, she said: “I got myself a little journal... I’ve actually really been taking in the elements and chilling before work gets too intense, but it’s a nice place to spend January, I’m not going to lie."

She added: "Love you all, wholesome as heck over here but will try post a bit more when we’re in the swing of it all.”
