Research Finds People Are Baking Less Because Of The Reopening

People are baking less often these days, according to the latest supermarket spending figures.

Sales of flour, eggs, and chocolate spread have dropped in the past four weeks, with analysts saying people are returning to busier routines.

Grocery sales overall have dropped by 4-point-5 per cent over the past 12 weeks.

Online grocery sales have fallen by 15 per cent over the last four weeks, as shoppers return to physical stores.

Experts say with the lockdown ending people are spending less time in the kitchen as they return to the office and have less time in the kitchen.

Baking which exploded in popularity during lockdowns in Ireland with many trying their hand at sourdough bread is typically time-consuming.

The research comes from data analytics and brand consulting company Kantar.
