Sadie Sandler is stepping into college life in the upcoming Netflix comedy Roommates, set to premiere on April 17.
The film follows freshman Devon (Sandler), who quickly realises dorm life isn’t as simple as she expected after asking the confident and carefree Celeste, played by Chloe East, to be her roommate. What begins as a hopeful arrangement soon spirals into awkward and passive-aggressive clashes as Devon struggles with boundaries and the chaos of shared living.
The trailer teases the comedic tension between the pair, with Devon even asking how to switch roommates before bluntly explaining her frustrations with Celeste’s behaviour.

Directed by Chandler Levack and written by Jimmy Fowlie and Ceara Jane O’Sullivan, the movie explores the strange and emotional transition of starting college for the first time. Levack said the story appealed to her because few coming-of-age films focus on the first year of college — a time when young people are leaving home, redefining themselves, and navigating adulthood for the first time.
The cast also includes Natasha Lyonne, Nick Kroll, Storm Reid, Sarah Sherman and Bailee Madison.
Behind the scenes, Sadie’s father, Adam Sandler, is also attached as a producer alongside Tim Herlihy. The project marks another step in Sadie Sandler’s growing acting career as she takes on a leading role in a coming-of-age comedy.
