Irish stars Hozier and Jessie Buckley are set to collaborate on a new tribute album celebrating the life and music of Shane MacGowan, the iconic frontman of The Pogues.

The pair will perform a special duet on 20th Century Paddy: The Songs of Shane MacGowan, a forthcoming record that brings together a wide range of artists to honour the legendary songwriter. MacGowan, who died in November 2023 aged 65, was widely regarded as one of Ireland’s most influential musicians, known for blending punk attitude with traditional Irish folk on classics like Fairytale of New York and A Rainy Night in Soho.

The tribute album features an impressive international line-up, including Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Depp, Imelda May, Picture This and Amble. Another notable duet on the project will see Depp team up with Imelda May.

Beyond celebrating MacGowan’s songwriting legacy, the album also has a charitable element, with half of the artist royalties set to be donated to Dublin Simon Community, which supports people experiencing homelessness in Dublin.

The project aims to bring together artists from across the world to reinterpret the songs that helped cement MacGowan’s place as a cultural icon in Irish music.
