Emily Hampshire & Demi Lovato
Emily Hampshire, who played Stevie Budd on Schitt's Creek, has revealed Demi Lovato slid into her DMs after seeing her on the show.
She told the story during an interview with the singer on their podcast 4D with Demi Lovato.

"Can I say how we first met?" Emily asked Demi, before adding, "I think it's really funny."
Demi broke out laughing and said, "Sure, go for it. I don't care."
Emily began, "You DMd me, and you said..." Demi interrupted, "I did! I slid into those DMs."

Emily continued, "You slid in my DMs and you said, 'Hey... I like you on the show, we should kick it sometime.'"
"Then you said, below it, you said, 'And by kick it, I mean like go on a date, I find you attractive.'"
"Like you made it clear that it was like a date and I loved that 'cause I was like, sometimes that's confusing."

The age gap
The 40-year-old Stevie actress added that she's, "decades," older than Demi so she had no idea what, "kick it," meant.
Demi revealed Emily told them they wouldn't find the same things funny because of the age gap.
"I was like hmm... 'scuse you, and I sent you a really good meme," the 29-year-old Disney alum remembered.

"You also said, 'Think of Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor,'" Emily laughed.
In case you missed the reference, Paulson is 46, while her partner Taylor is 78.
"And then right after you were like, 'OH! I don't mean you're the Holland Taylor!" Emily recalled.

At this point in the interview, both Emily and Demi are in hysterics laughing.
Demi added, "I was like, 'NO! NO! I just love them together! I really do.'"
"That was the funniest thing in the world 'cause I was the Holland Taylor in that situation," Emily said.

"A non-binary person can dream"
The Solo singer laughed and said, "A non-binary person can dream."
"And they, she - at the time I was a she - she was dreaming, she was dreaming big," Demi added.
"I was like, 'What's the worst that can happen,' and then I made a really good friend."

"Like you're a dope friend! And I'm happy that we became friends," Demi told her.
Emily very enthusiastically replied, "Me too! I wish you weren't 29!"
