Singer 33/1 From 50/1 To Be Crowned Winner
BoyleSports traders have reported on Thursday morning that punters were starting to get behind the chances of Sinead O’Connor representing Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The sudden burst of support comes after singer Brian Kennedy backed Sinead O’Connor following a tweet that she sent last month about never being asked to represent Ireland at the Eurovision.
The ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ legend tweeted:
“Always wondered why they’ve never sent me to sing the Eurovision song for Ireland. I’d have blown them all off the stage.”
Following the backing of Brian Kennedy, fans of the 54-year-old have backed O’Connor not only to represent Ireland at the next Eurovision but to go on and win it.
BoyleSports chalked O’Connor at 16/1 to represent Ireland but punters are really keen on the idea with those odds now into 3/1.
The chances of the Dubliner going on to win, and extend Ireland’s record in the Eurovision to eight wins, is 33/1 from 50/1.
Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said:
“This was not the market we expected to be taking bets on his week but out of nowhere, Sinead O’Connor is fancied to represent Ireland at the next Eurovision at 3/1 from 16/1. The Dubliner is also being supported to win it with those odds into 33/1 from 50/1 to give Ireland its 8th victory and O’Connor could just be our lucky charm to see us back in the winner's enclosure.”
