Perrie Edwards has opened up about her split from Zayn Malik, claiming there was “a bit of an overlap” before he began a new relationship.
Speaking on Great Company, the former Little Mix star reflected on their 2015 breakup and suggested Zayn had already moved on when their relationship ended.
“I need to be careful how I say this, but there was, let's just say there was a bit of an overlap,” Perrie said. “When you're moving on with somebody else, you always get on better.”
The singer admitted she struggled with being “left behind,” adding: “It felt at the time like, ‘They've left me for someone more beautiful than me, someone better than me.’”

Perrie also appeared to reference Zayn’s 2016 debut solo single Pillowtalk, which featured Gigi Hadid in the music video. Calling it “the nail in the coffin,” she said the breakup was “hellish” and left her feeling “abandoned,” “embarrassed” and deeply hurt.
“I had like serious breakdowns,” she revealed. “I was crying constantly. I think I was depressed.”
Zayn and Gigi were first linked in late 2015 and later welcomed a daughter together in 2020. Perrie has been in a relationship with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain since 2017, and the couple share two children.
