Meghan Markle addresses reports

Meghan Markle has been making headlines after it was noted that her name had been removed from her son Archie's birth cert.

In a statement to Hello! Magazine, a spokesperson for the Duchess addressed the situation.

It was reported over the weekend that Meghan's name had been changed on the certificate.

It originally read, 'Rachel Meghan, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.'

However, it now reads, 'Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.'

It was thought the name change could have been a nod to the late Princess Diana, who always used, 'Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales.'

It had also been suggested that the change was a, 'snub,' to the Cambridges.

But in a statement to Hello! Magazine, a spokesperson for Meghan slammed such suggestions.

The statement

The statement reads:

'The change of name on public documents in 2019 was dictated by The Palace, as confirmed by documents from senior Palace officials.'

'This was not requested by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex nor by The Duke of Sussex.'

It continues, 'To see this U.K. tabloid and their carnival of so-called ‘experts’ chose to deceptively whip this into a calculated family ‘snub’ and suggest that she would oddly want to be nameless on her child’s birth certificate, or any other legal document, would be laughable were it not offensive.'

'There’s a lot going on in the world; let’s focus on that rather than creating clickbait.'

No further comment has been made.
