Kim Kardashian apologises

Kim Kardashian has apologised for her controversial comments in a Variety interview about women in business needing to work harder.

She faced serious backlash earlier this month, with many branding her words tone deaf considering her privilege.

In a new interview with Good Morning America, Kim claimed her words were taken out of context.

She said, "Well, that statement that I said was without questions and conversation around it."

"It became a sound bite really with no context."

Kim continued, "And that sound bite came off the notion and the question right before which was after 20 years of being in the business you're famous for being famous."

"My whole tone and attitude changed with the previous question that went into that question about what advice would you give to women."

"It wasn't a blanket statement towards women or to feel like I don't respect the work or think that they don't work hard."

"I know that they do. It was taken out of context, but I'm really sorry if it was received that way," Kim concluded.

However, the Variety reporter, Elizabeth Wagmeister, has disputed Kim's claims: 'I just reviewed the raw footage.'

'The question was very direct: “What would be your advice for women in business?”'

'The question about being famous for being famous came after that question, actually.'

In case you missed it...

In case you missed it, Kim and her sisters did an interview with Variety earlier this month.

During their chat, the reality star shared her advice for women in business: "I have the best advice for women in business."

"Get your fu**ing ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days."

The clip went viral with many criticising Kim on social media.

Her words were even quoted during Sunday night's Oscars ceremony.

It happened when hosts Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes were handing out consolation prizes to the nominees who lost out on awards.

"We've got an inspirational quote for you, Judi Dench," Regina said.

"This is from Kim Kardashian: 'Work harder,'" she joked.
