Joe explained in an Instagram Stories post that he's part Irish.
The actor wrote, 'In a surprise turn of events, I found out last year that my brother and I were significantly Irish and then serendipitously, I wound up getting offered a great job in Ireland.'

Moonhaven
He then went on to reveal the job in question is a role in the new AMC utopian drama series Moonhaven.
According to Deadline, it's about a utopian colony on the moon that might hold the key to preserving life on Earth.
The actor is currently filming the new series in Dublin.

Joe went on to reveal he recently had some time off from filming, and used it to explore, 'the land of [his] ancestors… Cork.'
'As you can see we ventured out to Schull and Mizen Head stopping by to pay respects to the 3,000 year old Drombeg stone Druid Circle.'
'The critically acclaimed series, Finding Your Roots is currently putting together my family tree including the specifics to my Irish heritage along with the rest of my complicated blood line… so stay tuned for an announcement of the air date and time.'

Joe and Sofia also visited Galway, and shared pictures from their trip on Instagram.
He gushed, 'The people were fantastic and the food was delicious… full of homemade cheeses and chocolates and oak smoked salmon.'
