"I can't tell you how excited I was to come back to Ireland, I hadn't been in 20 years and I had the greatest time," James said.

He revealed he was here in the late 90s for a TV pilot, and he remembers just having, "the best time."

"The people that I come across, in restaurants, in bars, when I'm sitting there drinking Guinness, or on set, and everyone working on the movie, were some of the most... they just seem like the kindest, most genuine, sweet, happy people."

The Hairspray actor continued, "Really, really genuinely happy."

"Thrilled that we're there shooting this movie and they just bend over backwards to do anything to make you feel comfortable."

"I just always am reminded that when I go to Ireland, it's just the kindest, most fun, happy people. I loved it."

Exploring Ireland

"I didn't get enough time off to go explore," James admitted.

"I wanted to go to the west coast and see some of that over there, but we were mainly just around Dublin, which was awesome as well."

He added, "I got down to Dalkey I think one weekend, which was beautiful."

The actor revealed he's thought about buying a house in Ireland.

"It was great, I don't think anybody leaves Ireland saying, 'I don't want to have a place here,'" he said.

He laughed, "I kept thinking, 'How do I buy a house or some real estate here or something? My soul needs to be around this goodness a lot more.'"
