It's nearly time to kick start the long weekend but the weather isn't looking the best.

The next few days will be dull and wet but good news looks to be on the way next week.

Rain will begin to move away from Monday when temperatures beginning to rise to what forecasters say are 'above normal' levels next week.

However people will have to endure a dull weekend before the warm weather moves in.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Saturday, will see some early bright spells in the east and north, but overall it's a mostly cloudy, and at times rather damp and windy, day.

"Patchy light rain or drizzle in southern and southeastern coastal counties will spread elsewhere during the afternoon as southeasterly winds strengthen. Top temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees

"Outbreaks of rain, locally heavy, spreading to most parts during the morning. Maximum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees Celsius."

But there is goon news for Monday!

Monday will be much brighter and will signal the beginning of some much better weather for the beginning of May.

The forecaster said: "Some uncertainty in the outlook, but indications are for a good deal of dry and bright weather to begin on Monday.

"Top temperatures of 10 to 15 or 16 degrees, warmest in sunny breaks across the midlands.

"Tuesday will be mainly dry in the north and east on Tuesday with bright or sunny intervals.
