Cinema style ratings are to be used to restrict what under-18s can view on Instagram.
Under changes to the platform's teen accounts, they'll no longer be able to follow profiles that regularly share inappropriate content, or search for 'mature' terms like 'alcohol'
It's part of new plans from parent company Meta.
The new restrictions will require youngsters to get parental permission to have the restrictions lifted.
Content will be rated like films at the cinema.
Meta says the updates will be rolled out by the end of the year.
Instagram's Director of Public Policy Tara Hopkins said: "What parents really do, we think, understand is the movie rating system.
"Parents may not be digital natives unlike their teenagers, so we've created this experience, which I think is a much more familiar model for most parents."
