A candle-lit vigil is taking place at the Spire in Dublin this evening to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

It's organised by the group Action for Suicide Prevention, and takes place at 8pm.

The aim is to remember those who have died by suicide and to offer solace to those who may be struggling with mental health issues.

It will involve speeches, songs, and poems on the theme of mental health.

Another vigil will take place from Arthur’s Quay Park in Limerick city.

The vigil will take place from 7.30pm, with a moment of silence observed at 8pm to remember loved ones who have died by suicide.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Green Ribbon campaign which aims to reduce the stigma around mental health issues will also take place this month.
