Spice Bag Crowned The Nation's Favourite At Takeaway Awards

Ireland's favourite takeaway dish is the Spice Bag, according to Just Eat.

The National Takeaway awards were held last night with Saba To Go in Rathmines in Dublin winning the overall prize.

Base in Terenure in Dublin was voted the best pizza, while Macari 101 in Naas won the chipper award.

Camile Thai takes home inaugural Best Takeaway Sustainability and Best Takeaway Vegan Awards

Other winners from across the country include Xian Street Food, Galway, Bamboo Court, Letterkenny and Shapla Indian, Carlow

The National Takeaway Awards were developed by Just Eat to celebrate the nation’s favourite local takeaways;

The nominees and ultimate winners are also decided by public vote with over 17,000 votes registered.

25 awards were up for grabs on the night including Best Takeaway Healthy, Best Takeaway Pizza and the all-new Best Takeaway Breakfast award.

Introduced this year to acknowledge those within the industry working to make their business model more sustainable, is also the inaugural Just Eat Best Takeaway Sustainability category.

It was won by Camile Thai, with Burrito Loco, Letterkenny; Chopped, Baggot St; San Sab, Drumcondra and Sprout, Baggot St, also shortlisted and recognised within the category.

Speaking at National Takeaway Awards, Amanda Roche-Kelly, Managing Director Just Eat Ireland said:

“The Just Eat National Takeaway Awards have gone from strength to strength over the past six years due in no small part to our restaurant partners’ tireless efforts to deliver the very best quality food to loyal customers.

“It’s a really exciting time to be in the food hospitality sector in Ireland."

"The combination of new trends and new cuisine types partnered with innovative technology means that the sector will continue to grow and evolve."
