Rihanna has blasted Snapchat saying the company is 'bringing shame to domestic violence victims' after it hosted an ad asking users if they would rather 'slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown'.

The ad, which has since been removed, caused a huge backlash after it was shared earlier this week, with many people vowing to delete the app.

She took to Instagram to write:

A spokesperson from Snapchat told the BBC the poll went out 'in error' and was removed straight away.

They said: "The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware.

"We are sorry that this happened."
