Pope Francis is set to visit Ireland this Summer.

This will be in first papal visit to Ireland in almost 40 years. The last pontiff to visit was Pope John Paul II.

Crowds of over 2.5 M came out to see him. That was more than half of the population back in 1979.

In August Pope Francis will celebrate Mass in Dublin's Phoenix Park.

He will also partake in the Festival Of Families in Croke Park.

Leo Varadkar said he is looking forward to meeting Pope Francis;

"While it is not a formal state visit, it will be a major event for Ireland, with a high degree of public participation and a high international profile,"
