There's been an improvement in the number of graduates who are in substantial employment after leaving college.

Over three quarters of those who graduated in 2014 say they're getting at least 12 weeks of work within the year, or earning at least €100 a week in the first year after leaving college.

That's compared to two thirds of 2010 graduates.

The new figures from the CSO also show that more women than men were in substantial employment a year after graduating in 2010.

They also showed the largest sector for employment was Wholesale and Retail.

In the first year after graduation, weekly earnings were equal for men and women at €420,.

However, after five years a gender gap became apparent as men earned €655 - €20 more than women.
