Mini-bus theft

Two men have been arrested after a mini-bus was stolen from Dublin Airport in the early hours of this morning.

Three passengers were on board at the time but were let off on the M1 uninjured.

Shortly after 1am this morning, two men boarded a minibus at Dublin Airport and drove it in the direction of the M1.

Gardaí say it continued north on the motorway towards Drogheda, and three passengers got off near Julianstown.

The bus was followed by Gardaí before it crossed the border, and when it passed north of Dundalk, the PSNI were called.

It then came back into the Republic in Monaghan, and was found crashed and abandoned a short time later.

The men fled on foot, before stealing a parked car.

Gardaí intercepted the car with assistance from Air Support near Castleblayney and two men in their 30s were arrested.

They are being detained at Carrickmacross Garda Station, where they can be held for up to 24 hours.
