Do you like to take one small step for man? Or prefer a giant leap for mankind?

Well the European Space Agency could have just the job for you!

The EMA are launching a recruitment drive for astronauts.

It's the first open recruitment launched by the agency in over a decade.

From next week, candidates will be able to apply for the role through their new website.

The site will be full of information about the job and and the process in selecting an astronaut.

Applicants can apply between March 31st and May 28th.

Recruitment Process Is Out Of This World

It's not an easy job to score and the selection process is pretty out of this world (get it?).

After a rigorous six step process, the selected astronauts must complete three to four years of training.

After that, the graduates become eligible to go on a mission, which - you guessed it - requires more training.

We wouldn't recommend packing an overnight bag to Mars just yet, as the standards are high.

Out of 8,413 people who qualified for the selection process back in May 2009, just six new astronauts were selected.
