Eight In Hospital After Crash Between Dublin Bus And Car

Eight people - including two men with serious injuries - have been hospitalised after a crash involving a bus and a car on the southside of Dublin city.

The accident happened last night at around 10.45pm last night, at the junction of Northumberland Road and Haddington Road in Ballsbridge.

A total of eight eight people were taken from the scene by Ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital, including both occupants of the car.

Two of the passengers who were in the bus - both men - are said to be in a serious condition.

As one of the vehicles involved had come to the attention of gardaí prior to the incident, GSOC have been notified

The scene of the accident has been preserved for a technical examination.

The junction is currently closed to traffic and diversions are expected to remain in place for most of the day.

"This woman lives across the road from where the crash happened."

"I heard a bang from outside on the main road, I had the television on."

"It seemed or sounded like a gas bang or, I thought very stupidly that maybe a bomb had gone off."

"But I came out to the garden and a bus was launched in the garden across the road."

"...and a car had tumbled and rolled."

Gardaí Want To Speak With Witnesses

Gardaí at Irishtown are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

They particularly want to speak to people who may have dash-cam footage from the area at the time.
