Boris Johnson was brought to hospital yesterday
The UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted to intensive care after his coronavirus symptoms worsened.
Mr Johnson, who was diagnosed with COVID-19 last week, was admitted to hospital in London yesterday.
His spokesman says: "Since Sunday evening, the prime minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.
"Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the prime minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the intensive care unit at the hospital."
However, the spokesman added that he was 'conscious' at this time.
Tanaiste Simon Coveney has expressed his well-wishes on Twitter.

Earlier, Boris Johnson was said to be 'in good spirits' after spending a comfortable night in hospital before his condition deteriorated today.
Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will take over in a caretaker role while Mr Johnson continues to be treated.
