Commuter, DART and Intercity services are not running again today as Irish Rail workers hold a second strike day, as the row over pay continues to cause disruption.

There's been no formal contact between unions and management at Irish Rail since mid-October.

Yesterday the head of the rail company urged unions to go to the Labour Court over the pay claim.

Irish Rail will lose around 900,000 euro every day of the strike, with three more planned.

This morning some private companies are running extra routes but rail tickets won't be valid on Dublin Bus, Bus Eireann or the Luas.

People are being advised to leave extra time for their journeys today with large volumes of traffic expected on the roads
