After fighting Floyd Mayweather last year, Conor McGregor said his 'Notourious' Irish whiskey is coming soon and he's going to take over the Irish whiskey market.

Well now it seems to be a case of 'No.. No.. Notorious' whiskey, as his plans appear to have been shelved.

He's been told another company in Carlow has already registered his nickname as a drinks trademark.

Last year Seamus O'Hara, the founder of the Carlow Brewing Company made a formal objection when Conor's firm, McGregor Sports and Entertainment Ltd filed the application.

Mr O'Hara registered the brand 'Notorious' in 2016 and now the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has ruled in the Carlow man's favour.

Since McGregor withdrew his application, he's taken to Instagram saying he's still working hard in his whiskey distillery. No mention of a new name though.

It is a possibility that McGregor could attempt to 'buy out' Mr O'Hara by making him an offer he can't refuse for the rights to the 'Notorious' trademark.

McGregor's net worth is thought to be at around €86 million so he does have a few quid to spare if he wanted to make an offer.
