Canadian rapper, Jon James McMurray has died after he fell off the wing of a plane while shooting a music video.

In a statement, his management described the 34-year-old as a “beacon of light to follow your dreams.”

They explained that McMurray had trained “intensively” for the stunt, which saw him rap while walking on the wing of a plane.

Which many rappers do in music videos but not in the air.

“As Jon got further out onto the wing of the plane, it caused the small Cessna to go into a downward spiral that the pilot couldn’t correct,” the statement read.

“Jon held onto the wing until it was too late and, by the time he let go, he didn’t have time to pull his chute. He impacted and died instantly.”

According to McMurray’s management, both the plane and the pilot landed safely with no one else injured in the accident.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help celebrate his life and “get his stuff out there to the world in the right way.”
