Dermot Kennedy has opened up about why he stays close to home despite his global fame.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, he confirmed that he is married and has a baby daughter, and confessed he’ll "always come home."
He said: "I have toyed with the idea of living in Nashville or New York but it’s taken this long to realise I’ll always come home."

"Nothing I see out there appeals more than being at home and being close to my family and to have my friends nearby. After all the touring and madness of albums one and two, being home feels like a refuge to me."
On why Irish artists feel the need to relocate to progress in their careers he said: "Why? I think it’s mad. Of course there are more people around and the labels are there but it doesn’t feel essential to me. I think it takes time to realise that."
"I feel I have the best of both worlds. I get to see the world but still come back home," he added.

In a recent interview with Zach Sang Show he further opened up on his decision: "Anytime I flirt with the idea, I’m like: ‘No'!"
"I travel all the time and I get these experiences and then I get to go home and settle down, but it’s like — it’s lovely because I have my family close by. If I were to move I’d be like, ‘Oh sh*t."
