Saoirse Ronan is one of many actresses who will wear black at the Golden Globes this weekend.

It's part of a silent protest against those who have taken advantage of their position and sexually harassed or assaulted people.

The 75th Golden Globe Awards will be coming from The Beverly Hilton in California on Sunday and viewers are told to expect the red carpet to be full of Hollywood's leading ladies wearing black.

"It is the most important thing" Ronan says.

"I’ve never felt so encouraged and inspired and supported to use whatever voice I have and for all of these people, men and women, to be able come together and use their influence and to open up the conversation and raise awareness and support anyone who's gone through, or anyone that has questioned their safety or their stance when they’re on set. I think it’s invaluable and paramount that this happens now."

The 23 year old Wicklow native is nominated for Best Performance in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
