Some simple tips on how you can play your part in building a more sustainable future

This year, Bord Na Mona wants to help to build a more sustainable future by supporting families around Ireland who are Naturally Driven to change and willing to take on a challenge this summer.

Pictured is Dave Moore, our ambassador, getting some help from the expert eco rangers on knowing his lettuce heads from his tomato plants along what bugs will help or hinder his salad planter this summer. As part of the Naturally Driven Challenges, Dave has committed to reducing the amount of plastic brought in to his office this summer by growing and harvesting their own salad ingredients.

2018 is set to be a big year for positive change and positive change doesn’t always mean big change.

Families and communities coming together to make small changes can add up to making a big difference.

Bord na Mona’s team of experts will be helping families like you and around Ireland this summer to take on challenges that will bring about a positive and lasting change both in their home and their wider community.

To ensure we’re all playing our part in being more Naturally Driven, Bord na Móna has partnered with The HUB Controller and we’re delighted to offer our winning family the chance to have a top of the range HUB Controller installed in their home. The HUB Controller is a smart thermostat designed and manufactured in Ireland which can help you to save energy at home and even better, it can help you to save money! The handy mobile phone app can be used to set a schedule and turn on and off the heating when you’re out and about to ensure you’re being energy efficient all the time.

Here are some ways in which you can make a big difference by being more energy efficient in your home:

1.     By using smart controls in your home like the Hub Controller, you can control your costs and energy usage.

2.     By upgrading your insulation, your home will be cooler in the Summer and warmer in the Winter which will help to reduce your energy bills.

3.     By installing Solar PV panels, your home can generate clean green renewable energy from daylight - a free and natural resource.
