Meghan Markle's dad Thomas Markle appeared on Good Morning Britain for an exclusive interview.
Thomas said that the prince had followed tradition in asking Meghan's father if he could marry her. "Harry asked for her hand on the phone and I said: 'You are a gentleman, promise me you will never raise your hand against my daughter and of course I will grant you my permission'," Thomas told ITV's Good Morning Britain today.
I eventually spoke to him and he was a very nice man, a gentleman - very likeable."
When asked about Meghan marrying into the royal family, he said; "My daughter has been a princess since the day she was born."
"He made a good pick, didn't he?"
Thomas said he was "honoured" that Prince Charles stepped in to give Meghan away at the royal wedding after he was unable to attend.
"I was honoured, I can't think of a better replacement than someone like Prince Charles."
"I absolutely wanted to walk my daughter down the aisle."
