Liberty Insurance are proud to announce the extension of their sponsorship for the All Ireland Camogie Championships for the next 3 years.

Gaelic Games are part and parcel of our national heritage and the rise in popularity of Camogie means that women are now very much part of that conversation. Camogie provides our players with a sense of purpose and focus and a desire to be and to do better. And just like Football and Hurling, it strengthens the ties to community.

That rise in popularity has seen an increased level of skill, and just as importantly, commitment. Fierce rivalries have been born along with the drama that accompanies those rivalries. Women playing at senior level now face the long dark rainy winter nights of training so endured by their male counterparts, but often without the access to the same facilities and resources. It’s a sign of the times that former and current players are loudly calling for those resources to made available to the women’s code. After all, Gaelic Games, whatever the code, are our games.

But the players strive on regardless. Each season they make a commitment to each other as team mates to get better. To get fitter. To improve and to learn and, in the end, to win. And each season that task gets harder and harder as the competition increases year-on-year. Just as it does in the male codes.

Liberty Insurance announced today that we will extend our sponsorship of the Camogie All

Ireland Championships for another 3 years. In 2017, Liberty Insurance sponsored the first ever Camogie All-Stars tour and through our Squad Goals competition, captured the imagination of young camogie players throughout the country. You can see that our support is not just for those playing at senior level, it extends down through intermediate and junior level as well and the players playing in those Championships. We have seen increased attendances and media coverage of Camogie since our sponsorship began and we want to see that grow further.

In addition to overall support for the Championships, Liberty Insurance has launched its ‘Camogie Made Me Ready for the Real World’ campaign, designed to show that attributes such as confidence, focus, organisational skills and resilience demonstrated on the field can be applied off the pitch in other aspects of players lives.

Commenting on the company’s continued commitment to the Camogie Association and its increased investment in women in sport, Deirdre Ashe, Director of Customer & Markets at Liberty Insurance, said:

“Our ‘Camogie Made Me Ready for the Real World’ campaign differs from traditional advertising campaigns in that it heroes a number of camogie players and showcases the off-pitch aspects of their lives. We want to highlight to young girls that sport can help you in so many ways in your life and help you succeed where you might not have otherwise.”

Liberty Insurance also announced a €2.5 million investment in sponsorship, campaigns and events to women’s sport in general over the next 3 years.

“We passionately encourage more involvement and participation in camogie and all sport. Through our work with camogie players, we know that the sport brings a wealth of skills and experience to girls and women in cities, towns and villages across the country,” added Ms Ashe.

“Increased focus on women in sport is needed to facilitate benefits on an individual and societal level, with research showing teenage girls having the highest fall-off in sport participation in Ireland. Our ambition over the last number of years has always been to raise the profile and recognition of women in sport and drive participation and engagement, which has really gained traction in the past 5 years.

All Liberty car insurance policies come with 24/7 breakdown assistance with Home Start as standard and it won’t affect your no claims bonus.
