A judge heard a rap song before sentencing DMX for tax fraud.

The rapper (Earl Simmons) was at the height of his career in the 90's and 00's. The judge accommodated the rapper by letting him rap his hit song "Sippin" before he called the rapper's fraud “brazen and blatant” and that it could not go unpunished.

Given a chance to speak, he said he knows taxes need to be paid and what he did was wrong.

“I wasn’t following the rules,” he said. “I was in a cloud.”

The judge said that in the court’s view DMX “is a good man” and "he’s his own worst enemy.”

The rapper has been sentenced to one year in jail for tax fraud.
