Tonight's the night! The first Semi Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017!

Grab the hairbrush and your sparkly jacket and get ready for the musical extravaganza that is Eurovision 2016!

This years contest is being held in Kiev, Ukraine following Jamala's win last year with the song 1944.

Ireland aren't performing until the second Semi Final on Thursday when Brendan Muarry will fly the flag for us with he song 'Dying To Try'. Will he make it to the final? It remains to be seen!

But before all that, lets take a look at tonight's show there are definitely a few countries to keep you eye on.

Sweden

Robin Bengtsson will take to the stage for Sweden with the song 'I Can't Go On'. He is one of the favourites. Sweden have won the competition six times that's only one less than us so if he wins Sweden will be on par with Ireland!

Portugal

Salvador Sobral  will represent Portugal with tjhe song 'Amar Pelos Dois'. Thus guy is one to watch. He was pretty much overlooked by bookies over the past few months but as off last week climbed to become one of the favorites.

Armenia

Artsvik will fly the flag for Armenia with 'Fly With Me'. This lady is not one to be underestimated and is guaranteed to give a chilling performance tonight.

Azerbaijan

Dihaj with represent Azerbaijan tonight with 'Skeletons'. Again this is another strong contender and we're looking forward to the performance tonight!

These 3 are the big ones to watch tonight and are all tipped to finish in the top 10 in the final next Saturday night!

As always there is one big favourite this year and that is Italy. Francesco Gabbani will represent Italy with 'Occidentali's Karma'. the song is quite catchy and to be honest is so Eurovision!

The fun kicks off at 8pm tonight on RTE2 at 8pm with 18 countries hoping to make it to the grand final on Saturday. Sad news is only 10 can make it through.

We may be slightly excited!!
