Sorry to Dampen your weekend plans but Hurricane Gert is on Route!

The tail end of the hurricane is due to Ireland over the next few days.

It is too early to say what’s in store for Ireland, according to Met Éireann’s Deirdre Lowe.

“It’s basically going to mean very unsettled weather. It’s predicted to move across the Atlantic and the remnants will move to the mid-Atlantic up between Ireland and Iceland,” she said.

Deirdre Lowe added that ex-hurricanes like Gert can cause difficulty for accurate forecasting.

So lets hope no Trampolines get a new home this weekend and Hope Teresa Mannion gets the weekend off!

Forecast according to Met Eireann is;

FRIDAY NIGHT: Showers will continue to affect north and west coasts for a time; otherwise the night will be dry with clear spells and winds will ease.

SATURDAY: Most places will have a dry day with a few sunny spells, though it will be mostly cloudy and cool. Winds will be light. Rain will affect the southwest during the late evening.

SUNDAY: Mostly overcast with outbreaks of rain. The rain will be persistent and sometimes heavy near west and north coasts, accompanied by low cloud and hill mist. It’ll become more humid.
