Big Brother 2017 hasn't even launched yet, and already there's been a twist.

The show is premiering on Monday 5th June on TV3, and is getting a little bit of a shake up from day one.

According to OK!, the new housemates won't be simply introduced by Emma Willis and put into the house, but instead the power will be given to the public.

Producers of the show are said to be keen to keep with the theme of the forthcoming general election. The hopeful housemates will have to earn the vote of the general public. Only if they are elected will they be given a place in the house.

The Sun Online are claiming that potential candidates will have to appeal to the live audience and viewers to earn their approval. They'll each be given a set amount of time to argue why they should enter.

A source told them 'Big Brother bosses are really running with the election fever of the country this year and mocking up housemates as political party leaders. Like a real-life politician the hopeful housemates will have to convince the public to vote for them with a convincing speech. It will all be filmed live so they will be under pressure not to fluff up their speeches. It will be an exciting twist to the opening night shenanigans.'
