In a world where the words ghosting, breadcrumbing and cushioning - which are all legitimate terms used to identify methods of courtship, it's no surprise that the internet's newest dating trend seems just as obscure.

Allow us to introduce you to 'Gatsbying'

While you might be inclined to think the dating term correlates to some news about Leonardo DiCaprio or is related to dressing up in stylish 1920s inspired ensembles. Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with it!

Basically, the concept is when you post to social media in the hopes of that special someone seeing it. Don't lie to yourself - we've all done it at some point.

Model Matilda Dods, eloquently coined the term in a recent article for Tomboy Beauty, explaining that Gatsbying is "to post a video, picture or selfie to public social media purely for a love interest to see it."
