The State Examinations Commission has confirmed it is to review the appeal timelines in the wake of a High Court ruling.
It comes as students who appealed examination results in this years Leaving Cert find out their new marks today.
5,200 requested rechecks, which led to almost 1,500 upgraded marks.
This year's appeals were brought into sharp focus, after student Rebecca Carter was successful in having her results rechecked in time to secure a place on her chosen college course.
That was after the High Court ruled the system of rechecking of exams was 'highly unfair.'
