Channel 5 bosses have confirmed that the upcoming series of civilian Big Brother will be its last.

Taking to Twitter, the broadcaster announced that after 7 years, both the celebrity and civilian versions of the reality show are finished.

Big Brother's Bit on the Side presenter Rylan Clark Neal released an emotional statement, following the news.

"I hope that one day Big Brother will return but my focus now, as with the rest of the team is to make our last series the best yet.

"It has been the biggest privilege being a housemate, a winner and a host on my favourite show on television."

The final series of civilian Big Brother kicks off on Virgin Media Two tonight at 9pm. Yesterday, Big Brother teased that an Irish farmer from Tipperary was heading into the house. Read more on that here.
