Joy Villa, known by her stage name Princess Joy Villa, gained plenty of media attention with her choice of dress on this year's Grammy Awards red carpet.
The American singer and songwriter wore a pro-life dress, which had a hand-painted baby in a womb on the front.
The political statement showed her support for anti-abortion campaigns.
My statement for the 60th @recordingacademy is #CHOOSELIFE. ðŸ™ðŸ½ðŸ’—💋 I believe in loving the child and the mother, and I am proudly #ProLife. There is so much pain out there, but I choose to spread love and hope. â¤ï¸ðŸ’—💕I hand painted my @pronovias gown with a recreation of my daughter’s sonogram portrait I painted in 2007 at 20 years old, 8 months pregnant with my beautiful daughter, whom I adopted out to a wonderful family. I’m incredibly blessed to have given life, and I hope to encourage anyone in a similar painful situation to choose adoption. ðŸ™ðŸ½ I also hand painted my #Chooselife bag! And my gorgeous crown is made in USA, NYC. My dress comes from nonprofit @thebridalgardennyc who donates all of the proceeds to @brooklyncharterschool supporting underprivileged minority children. #love #blessed #life #grammys #grammys2018 #joyvillagrammys #joyvillamusic #grammysnyc #redcarpet #grammysfashion #MAGA #princessjoyvilla
Speaking to Fox Business, she said:
“I chose to represent a choose life, pro-life message on the Grammys red carpet. I had a lot of people tell me it’s beautiful. They wanted to hear my story. I told them that I had given a child up for adoption 10 years ago. That was my choice, and that’s why I’m pro-life.”
