
Bank of Scotland Ireland is closing its
retail banking operation in Ireland, with
the loss of 750 jobs.
The bank, which has branches IN Clonmel,
Ennis,Limerick and Tralee, informed staff
of the decision, at 3 o’clock, this afternoon.
The 44 Halifax branches across the country
and the bank’s call centre in Dundalk in Co. Louth,
will be closed as a result of the move.
However the Lloyds owned bank says it will be
retaining 850 staff to focus on commerical and
corporate banking.
