Munster 15-16 Leinster

Rob Kearney scored the only try of the game as Leinster recorded their first win over Munster at Thomond Park since 1995.

It finished 16-15 to Michael Cheika’s side in this Magners League clash in Limerick.

It was clear that losing to their provincial rivals on the last two occasions that they met hurt Munster, as they started the game with real intent.

And with a sold out Thomond Park the crowd was right behind Tony McGahan’s men.

Three penalties from Ronan O’Gara put the home side 12-6 ahead nearing half-time, before Rob Kearney got the all important score.

It looked to be advantage Munster at half time as Jonathan Sexton kicked a penalty right and wide of the posts.

Sexton sent over the conversion to give the away side a 13-12 lead at the break.

An early O’ Gara penalty in the second-half put Munster back in front, before Sexton converted a 66th minute penalty which proved the match winner.

Leinster are now 7 points clear at the top of the Magners League table with a game in hand.

Edinburgh were surprisingly beaten 22-21 at the Sportsground by Connacht last night, but move into second, while Munster drop to third.

Elsewhere last night the Ospreys beat Llanelli Scarlets 27-19.
