There was joy for both Kerry and Tipperary in the National Football and Hurling Leagues yesterday.
Tipp recovered from last weekend’s 9 point beating at the hands of Dublin to claim the scalp of Kilkenny in their National Hurling League Division 1 encounter in Thurles.
Captain Eoin Kelly was in inspired form for Liam Sheedy’s team at Semple Stadium.
He hit 1-07, including the all important goal before the break, to hand the Premier County their first win of the campaign.
It also gave Tipperary revenge for their League, League final and All Ireland final defeats to the Cats last year.
Meanwhile in the football Kerry also got their first win, with a 0-15 to 1-09 Division 1 win against Derry.
Man on the match Kieran Donaghy grabbed 3 points from play, while The Kingdom turned the screw midway through the second half, with the returning Colm Cooper and David Moran scoring two apiece during a six-point burst.
Elsewhere Dublin are top of the table, maintaining their 100% with a 1-09 to 1-08 win over Mayo in Castlebar.
But Tyrone are bottom and have no points, after losing 1-14 to 0-16 to Monaghan.
Clare lie in second in Division 4 with 3 wins from 3, following their narrow 2-12 to 0-17 win against Leitrim at Cusack Park in Ennis.
