Ireland Expects

Ireland face England at Twickenham in the Six Nations today, knowing that victory is a must if they’re to have any hopes of retaining their title.

They’ll also be hoping to bounce back from the demoralising defeat to France in Paris a fortnight ago.

Kickoff in London is at 4 o’ clock.

ireland v england 2Ireland coach Declan Kidney has made four changes from the side that went down 33-10 to the French for today’s encounter.

The most notable inclusion is Jonathan Sexton in for Ronan O’ Gara at fly-half, for what will be the Leinster No.10’s first start in the competition.

Elsewhere a fit again Donncha O’ Callaghan comes back into the second row in place of Leo Cullen, Rory Best replaces the suspended Jerry Flannery at hooker and Rob Kearney’s injury means Geordan Murphy at full-back.

England are unchanged from the side that beat Italy in Rome last time out.

Ireland have won 5 out of their last 6 games against England, but lost 33-10 on their last visit to Twickenham.

The game also marks John Hayes’ 100th cap for his country.

The day’s first Six Nations game takes place at 1:30, when Italy host Scotland.

But it’s France who are favourites for the Grand Slam.

Marc Lievremont’s men beat Wales 26-20 at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff last night.
