Thierry Henry has escaped any official punishment for his
blatant handball against Ireland last November.
FIFA’s disciplinary commission has ruled that the France
captain will not receive a suspension or even a reprimand
after he handled the ball twice in the build-up to the crucial
goal that sealed his side’s place at this year’s World Cup.
Under the current FIFA rules, the disciplinary committee is
only entitled to impose sanctions if a player uses their
hands to prevent a goal from being scored and they said
that there was “no legal foundation” for them to deal with the case.
